Atomic Cover-up, the fantastic documentary with actual footage from my father’s crew and Japanese filmmakers of the aftermath of the atomic bombings — and the suppression of all these compelling images by the U.S. Government for decades — is winning praise and awards around the world. The documentary has shown at two film festivals so far and has been a hit at both! At the International Uranium Film Festival Rio 2021, it won Best Archival Documentary Award and the festival described the response this way: “Greg Mitchell is the big festival winner selected from the audience and the jury. It is a masterpiece. The film brings the hard work of Japanese and American cinematographers who fought side by side against the global nuclear arms race from the darkness of the cover-up into the bright cinema lights.
